Subsea Engineering Beginners Master Class (SEBMC) – Level 1 & Level 2
The Subsea Engineering Beginners Master Class (SEBMC) Level 1 & Level 2 is an online professional training programme designed to develop specialised knowledge and practical understanding of offshore and subsea engineering.
The course is suitable for offshore and subsea engineers seeking to broaden their knowledge, engineers from other disciplines entering the subsea industry, project and operations engineers, maintenance engineers, technicians, managers, executives, and professionals transitioning into subsea engineering.
Course Overview
The programme covers the principal processes, technologies and systems used in subsea oil and gas production. Candidates are introduced to subsea production systems, field development, wellheads, Xmas trees, manifolds, pipelines, flowlines, risers, subsea control systems, umbilicals, reliability, maintenance and emerging technologies.
The course also covers ROV intervention, interface requirements and tooling mechanisms, together with pre-commissioning, commissioning, hook-up and decommissioning activities associated with FPSOs and offshore structures.
Key Learning Areas
Candidates will study topics including:
- Subsea Production Systems
- Subsea Field Architecture
- Subsea Distribution Systems
- Offshore & Subsea Surveys
- Subsea Structures Installation and Vessels
- Subsea Cost Estimation
- Subsea Control Systems
- Subsea Power Supply
- Subsea Project Execution and Interface
The programme also includes dedicated learning on ROV technologies, intervention operations, interconnection systems, API 17H interface requirements and Remote Operated Tools (ROT).
Commissioning & Decommissioning
Candidates are introduced to commissioning planning and execution, including mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, handover to operations, FPSO commissioning, drilling rig commissioning, subsea structure commissioning and decommissioning activities.
Assessment
Candidate understanding is assessed through short-answer questions, multiple-choice questionnaires and case studies at the conclusion of the course.
Learning Outcome
On completion, participants are expected to have a strong understanding of subsea engineering at Level 1 and Level 2 and to be able to contribute to subsea production systems and services engineering activities with reduced supervision.
The course develops capability in areas such as subsea equipment lists and document registers, field layouts and distribution schematics, design basis documentation, material selection, interface management, flow assurance, intervention strategy, testing, technical risk management, HAZOP, HAZID, RAM, FMECA and SIL engineering.
Certification
Upon successful completion, candidates may receive a CPD UK accredited certificate of completion issued by Chess Subsea Engineering Europe, in line with the programme documentation.
