Purpose

The purpose of WEEM Level 1 is to equip participants with the necessary competencies to understand and contribute to the engineering aspects of offshore wind energy. The master class provides a platform for professionals to enhance their expertise, foster innovation, and contribute to the growth of renewable energy through offshore wind power.

WEEM Level 1 is designed for engineering, maths or science graduates who wish to develop a successful and rewarding career in wind energy sector. It will equip you with the multidisciplinary skills required to design, optimise and evaluate the technical and economic viability of this systems.

Alternatively, participant can specialise in managing wind renewable energy projects and systems, energy entrepreneurship and asset management.

Course Objectives

The objective of WEEM Level 1 is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of offshore wind energy engineering. Upon completion of this level, participants should possess the fundamental knowledge and skills to comprehend the key concepts, technologies, and challenges in the field of offshore wind energy.

The training aims to develop participants’ knowledge and expertise in offshore wind turbine technology, foundation design, and offshore grid integration. Participants should gain a solid foundation to contribute to the development, design, and implementation of offshore wind energy projects.

WEEM Level 1 is an in-depth master class focused on offshore wind energy engineering. It provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the key concepts, technologies, and challenges associated with offshore wind farms.

WEEM Level 1 covers a wide range of topics related to offshore wind energy, including wind turbine technology, foundation design, offshore grid integration, power transmission, and project development considerations.

Participants in WEEM Level 1 learn about the fundamental principles of wind energy conversion and the design considerations specific to offshore environments. They gain insights into the different types of wind turbines, including their components, operational characteristics, and performance optimization.

The master class provides an overview of foundation design for offshore wind turbines, including fixed foundations, floating structures, and dynamic response analysis. Participants learn about the geotechnical considerations, structural design, and installation methods for different types of foundations.

WEEM Level 1 combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Participants engage in case studies, simulation exercises, and discussions to deepen their understanding of the engineering principles and real-world challenges associated with offshore wind energy projects.

Participant underpinning knowledge of wind energy engineering at Level 1 shall be accessed with short answer multiple-choice questionnaire and case studies at the conclusion of the course.

Outcome

Participants will gain an in debt understanding of wind energy engineering technology at Level 1. They will also be able to function with minimum supervision as Wind Energy Systems Engineers, Green Building Engineer, Energy Systems Engineer & Renewable Energy Engineer for IOCs & renewable enegy contractor, vendor or installation company.

Participant may be presented for Offshore Petroleum Training Organization (OPITO) Certification.
