Course Purpose

To develop the highly specialized skills and knowledge required for subsea High Integrity Pressure Protection System operation, and maintenance in a subsea environment.

High Integrity Pressure Protecting System (FHIPPS) Level 1 is designed for Offshore Engineers, Subsea Engineers, Offshore Project Engineers, Offshore Installation Manager, Structural Design Engineers & Business Development Managers.

Course Objectives

The course aims to ensure that participants have a comprehensive understanding of the system’s design, functionality, and operational principles. Below are key objectives:

  • Introduction to HIPPS: Providing an overview of HIPPS, its purpose, and its importance in subsea operations. Explaining the role of HIPPS in protecting subsea equipment from overpressure events.
  • Regulatory Framework: Familiarizing participants with relevant regulations, standards, and industry guidelines governing the design, installation, and operation of subsea HIPPS systems.
  • System Components: Describing the various components of a subsea HIPPS, including pressure sensors, logic solvers, valves, and associated equipment. Explaining the function and interconnections of these components.
  • System Design: Explaining the design considerations for subsea HIPPS, including pressure rating, response time, reliability, and redundancy. Discussing different design approaches and their implications.
  • System Integration: Providing an understanding of how the HIPPS integrates with other subsea systems, such as the subsea production system, control system, and emergency shutdown system. Explaining the interfaces and communication protocols.
  • Operation and Control: Detailing the operational procedures for starting up, operating, and shutting down a subsea HIPPS. Covering topics such as system monitoring, testing, and maintenance. Discussing the importance of accurate pressure measurement and control.
  • Safety and Emergency Response: Addressing safety considerations associated with subsea HIPPS, including emergency shutdown procedures, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting. Emphasizing the importance of proper training and response protocols in case of system failures.
