Description
Floating vessels, such as lifeboats, are important safety devices that can be used to evacuate people from ships or other structures in the event of an emergency. Lifeboats are designed to float in water and provide a means of transportation to safety for those on board.
Lifeboats come in different sizes and designs depending on the intended use and the number of people they can carry. They may be rigid or inflatable, and some can be powered by engines or operated manually using oars. The design of a lifeboat typically includes features such as watertight compartments, buoyancy chambers, and self-righting mechanisms to ensure that the vessel remains afloat and stable in rough waters.
It is important to ensure that lifeboats are properly maintained and regularly inspected to ensure they are in good working condition. Crew members and passengers should also be trained on how to use them in case of an emergency, including how to board the lifeboat, launch it from the ship, and operate any necessary equipment.
Fundamentals of Floating Vessels Lifeboats (FFVL) Level 1 covers Solars regulations for lifeboats, Types of lifeboats and their specifications i.e. Fireproof Lifeboats, Hyperbaric Lifeboats, Open Lifeboats, Close Lifeboats and Partially Enclosed Lifeboats, Lifeboat release mechanism, Maintenance of lifeboats, Tips for proper lifeboat maintenance, Major lifeboat maintenance services, Inspection of lifeboats and more.
