    PRODUCTION CONTROL SYSTEM COMPONENTS & FUNCTIONS : TOPSIDE CONTROL UNIT : HYDRAULIC POWER UNIT (HPU)

    Key hydraulic considerations are:

    I. Field layout (distances between wells and to the host).
    II. Number of hydraulic users (valve actuators, chokes).
    III. Pressure requirements (HP and LP systems).
    IV. Umbilical characteristics (tube size, tube material, elasticity, fluid compatibility).
    V. Actuator characteristics (volume, pressure opening speed required, closing speed required).
    VI. Number of open/close cycles in a given time period to design for.
    VII. Platform features (umbilical routing, elevation above water).

    The hydraulic distribution system for the EH-MUX system is open loop with valve actuator
    returns vented to sea via a relief valve in the SCM.
