Deepwater Riser Installation Software (OrcaFlex) Training

$3550.00 $1550.00 exc VAT

Purpose

OrcaFlex is the world’s leading package developed by Orcina for the dynamic analysis of offshore marine systems. This powerful course is mostly used as an Offshore & Subsea / Naval engineering software for developing professional subsea pipe design and analysis, floating platform hydrodynamics, mooring lines and riser static and dynamic analysis, among other very important offshore marine system analysis.

Course Objective

Subsea Structures Installation & Hydrodynamics Analysis with ORCAFLEX Level 1 to Level 3 course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of subsea structure installation processes and the application of hydrodynamics analysis using ORCAFLEX software.

The course objectives include familiarizing participants with the ORCAFLEX software interface, modeling tools, and simulation setup for accurate and efficient analysis of subsea structure installation scenarios.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of hydrodynamics, including wave theories, wave-current interactions, and the relevance of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in simulating hydrodynamic behavior.

The course will enable participants to effectively define material properties, boundary conditions, and environmental loads to perform realistic subsea structure installation simulations in ORCAFLEX.

By the end of the course, participants will gain practical skills in analyzing forces, displacements, tensions, bending moments, and stability during subsea structure installation, as well as interpreting and analyzing simulation results for optimal design and operational decision-making.

Description

Subsea structures installation and hydrodynamics analysis are critical components of offshore engineering. ORCAFLEX is one of the commonly used software for analyzing subsea structures installation and hydrodynamics.

Subsea structures installation involves the use of specialized vessels and equipment to install subsea equipment, such as pipelines, manifolds, and other subsea structures. ORCAFLEX is used to simulate the installation process, considering the various forces that act on the subsea structure during installation, such as wave forces, current forces, and vessel motions. By simulating the installation process, engineers can optimize the installation procedure and ensure that the subsea structures are installed safely and efficiently.

Hydrodynamics analysis involves the study of fluid flow around subsea structures. ORCAFLEX can simulate the interaction between subsea structures and fluid flow, such as waves and currents. By studying the hydrodynamics of subsea structures, engineers can optimize the design of subsea structures to minimize the forces acting on them and ensure their long-term stability.

ORCAFLEX uses a Finite Element Method (FEM) to simulate the behavior of subsea structures. This method divides the structure into a series of smaller elements, each with its own characteristics, such as mass, stiffness, and damping. ORCAFLEX then simulates the behavior of each element over time, considering the forces acting on it, to predict the overall behavior of the structure.

Subsea Structures Installation & Hydrodynamics Analysis with ORCAFLEX Level 1 to Level 3 gives a comprehensive understanding of how to use the OrcaFlex software for model design and dynamic analysis of offshore marine and subsea systems. Delegates will learn how to model different types of risers, mooring lines and flexibles and how to analyse for fatigue damage and vortex induced vibration (VIV).
